Janis Barrett Hass

Janis Barrett Hass, 70, of Kingsport, went home on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 following a stroke. Jan attended Van Hill FWB Church until health issues prevented her. She was a retired L.P.N. having worked at Holston Valley Medical Center. Jan was the perfect wife for her husband Randy for 38 years.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, R. C. and Evelee Barrett.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Randy Hass; daughter, Rachel Wells; son, Michael Hass; two grandchildren, Gaige Wells and Bentley Wells; sister, DiAnna Smith and husband, Pete; two special nephews, Jeremy Smith and wife, Mandy and Josh Smith and wife, Melanie; great-nieces, Reagan, Katie, Rylie, Trinity, Ava, Sawyer and Shada; great-nephews, Riley, Calo and Remington; special cousins, Polly and George Bernard and Billy Barrett; along with many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Pete Smith and Pastor Dan Dolen officiating. Graveside services will follow at R. C. Barrett Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Josh Smith, Rylie Smith, Trinity Smith, Remington Smith, Riley Woods, Caleb Byrd, Brandon Cox, Howard Hensley and Josh Jennings.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Bernard, Wayne Simpson and Reagan Smith.
