Jeffrey Eugene Staten

Jeffrey Eugene “Jeff” Staten, 65. Of Blountville, Tennessee, passed away on January 24, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

Born on September 15, 1960 in Kingsport, Tennessee, Jeff was the son of the late Cecil Eugne Staten and Betty Jean Welch Staten.

As Jeff often joked, the only addiction that he couldn’t kick was his wife, Anita, whom he loved deeply. The couple worked side by side as managers of North Plaza Package Store for more than 35 years, known for their strong work ethic and friendly personalities. Jeff never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome.

Jeff had a true passion for life and the outdoors. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, jet skis, horses, and was his happiest spending time on Boone Lake entertaining his nieces and nephews. Whether riding, working on something in the garage, or relaxing by the water, he found joy in the simple things and in sharing them with others.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Anita East Staten; sister Angela Hutsell (Johnny); Sister-in-Law,Karen Ring (Vic); Brother-in-Law Todd East (Teresa); nephews, Easton, Bart and Jason Ring, Skylar East; nieces, Halee Robinson and Victoria Hutsell; godson Nic Martin; and several extended family and lifelong friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to neighbors, Dan and Tonya Gardner and Matt Bowlin; as well as close family friends, Jeff and Nic Martin.

In keeping with his wishes, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or a local animal shelter in lieu of flowers.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
