Jimmey Eugene "Gene" Rowlett

Jimmey Eugene “Gene” Rowlett, age 84, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2024, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, TN.  Born and raised in Harrogate, TN, he later moved to Richlands, VA where he met the love of his life, Margaret B. Rowlett.  They settled in Bristol, TN where Gene worked for Eastman Chemical Company as a Maintenance Supervisor before retiring after 38 years of service.  He was the proud leader of the “Rowlett Rangers” at Eastman and a handyman who could fix anything (houses, motors; an all-around handyman).  Gene enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years, and traveled all over the US camping with his family.  He was well known for his great sense of humor and a member of Grace Point Church.  

Mr. Rowlett was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Zelma Rowlett; sisters, Jeanette Griffith and Joyce Yanayon; and sister-in-law, Margaret E. Rowlett.

Those left to cherish Gene's memory are his wife of 63 years, Margaret B. Rowlett; children, Mark A. Rowlett and Chad W. Rowlett (Fiancé Denise); grandchildren, Jaimie and Jarrad; brother, Glen Rowlett; sisters-in-law, Helen Reedy, Janice Newberry, Dorothy Kidd, Mary Herron (Jerry); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will host a visitation on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, 2630 Highway 75, Blountville, TN.  A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor James Norris officiating.   The graveside service will be held at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park in the Garden of Solomon with military rights presented by American Legion Posts #3/265.

Pallbearers will be various family members and the Honorary Pallbearer will be Tommy Robinette.
