Jimmy Carter, 68, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 11, 2026. Born in Savannah, GA, he had resided most of his life in Kingsport. Jimmy had retired from Pet Dairy. He was of the Baptist faith. Jimmy loved the outdoors and was a true patriot.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Carter; and parents, Jim and Marie Carter.
Jimmy is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Carter (Craig Owens) and Sarah Carter; two grandchildren, Hunter Shepherd and Hazel Carter; sister, Missy Barnette (Doug); two brothers, David Carter (Debby) and Doug Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Morelock and Pastor Dan Dolen officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Shepherd, Zach Barnette, Doug Barnette, Craig Owens, Cliff Stoops, and Ethan Sexton.
Special thanks to Crown Cypress, Dr. Marta Wayt and her team, Church Hill Post Acute, Caris Hopsice, and a host of other people in the community for the care that was given to Jimmy.
