Jimmy Buford Cox

Jimmy Buford Cox, age 84 of Gray, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 6, 2023.  He was born August 3, 1939 to the late Millard and Helen Cox. He retired from Domtar after more than 50 years of service at the Kingsport Mill. Mr. Cox was of Baptist faith and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Cox; brother Billy Cox; sister-in-law Margie Cox.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Chad & Penny Cox; two grandchildren, Daniel Cox and his wife Miranda and Matthew Cox; brother, Don Cox; sister-in-law, Carolyn Cox; brother, Eddie Cox and wife Charlene Cox; sister, Kay Cross and husband Ivan Cross; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Blountville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with David Cross officiating. Burial will follow.
