Jo Ann Cox

Jo Ann Russell Edwards Cox, age 88, passed away March 16, 2026 in Greensboro, NC. She was born June 16, 1937 in Catlettsburg, KY. Her parents were Harry Barker Russell and Margaret Chatfield Russell, deceased.

Survivors are daughters, Ann Edwards Sherman, Susan Edwards Glynn; stepchildren, Jay Cox, Kay Arbogast, and Paul Cox; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by the father of her daughters, Daniel Larey Edwards, Jr. and her second husband, Kenneth E. Cox.

Jo Ann graduated from Mary Washington College and was licensed as a medical Clinical Chemist. She worked for a short time in a laboratory setting, but spent most of her early life raising her two daughters in Kingsport, TN. After she and Kenneth were married, they trained, showed and bred Paso Fino horses on their farm, Pactolus Paso Finos. She remained active in various endeavors which revolved around horses, church and her WhiteStone community in Greensboro for many years.

A private graveside service for family will take place on July 17, 2026 at 11:00am at Oak Hill Cemetery.
