John Robert "J.R." Crawford

John Robert “J.R.” Crawford, 82, of Beech Creek, went to be with the Lord at 1:35pm on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Mt. Home VA following a period of poor health.

Born in Sullivan County, John resided in Hawkins County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. J.R. was a retired truck driver and had a passion for farming. He was of the Baptist faith, attending various Baptist churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Fannie Larkins Crawford, and two brothers, Don and Jerry Crawford.

Left to cherish his memory is his loyal daughter and caregiver, Sherrie Moratalla and husband Andres; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nancy Crawford, Linda Morelock; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A special thanks to Community Living Center in Mt. Home for their care of J.R.

The family will receive friends from 11am – 12pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 12pm with Pastor Danny Dolen officiating. Miitary graveside services will be held at 2pm at Highland Cemetery in Rogersville, TN. Military rites will be conducted.
