Johnny Ray Spriggs II, age 47, passed away at home on Sunday, October 5, 2014.
John was a kind, gentle giant with a generous heart and an adventurous spirit. John loved unconditionally and was loved unconditionally by his parents, Johnny and Rose Marie Ball Spriggs; brother, Eddie Spriggs and wife Karen Hicks Spriggs; special nephew, Ty Spriggs and adoring niece, Tori Spriggs. He is also survived by aunts, Mary Lynn "Mimi" Ball, Bernice Spriggs Rhoton Johnson and husband Ferrell, all of Kingsport, Gail Ball Rich and husband Keith of Bean Station, TN, and Barbara Ball Forsyth of Dumfries, VA; and uncles, Dan Ball and wife Diane, and Jackie Spriggs and wife Bobbie all of Kingsport. John is also survived by numerous cousins, special friends, Nat Tunnell, Randy Jones and Eric Vaughn; and many others too numerous to list.
John was a graduate of Sullivan Central High School and attended Lincoln Memorial University. His previous work experiences include the ski slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado, and a troubleshooter for Vision Construction which took John from Wilmington, North Carolina to Midland, Texas and jobsites in between. John also spent several years working in the beautiful Florida Keys before becoming an over the road truck driver hauling freight from the East Coast to the West Coast. John was currently employed with CCS in Kingsport.
John was a great traveling companion with his mom and extended family to destinations such as Hawaii, New York City, Nova Scotia, and other memorable journeys.
John was a member of Trinity Church of the Brethren, 1543 Hwy 75 (Airport Road) in Blountville, Tennessee. Services will be conducted at Trinity Church of the Brethren on Thursday October 9, 2014 beginning at 4 p.m. with visitation followed by a Celebration of Life for John. Pastor Scott Kinnick will be in charge of services.
