Joyce Roberts

Joyce Roberts, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Born and raised in Kingsport, she had lived in this area her entire life. She looked after her family and was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Having served patients for over 35 years, Joyce was an incredible nurse and she dedicated her life to her patients. She had a great voice, sang in church and on the radio, and was a wonderful cook.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Randy Johnson and Bobby Dale Johnson; grandson, Henry Lane; first husband, Bobby Gene Johnson; second husband, Fred Roberts; siblings, Paul Hilton, Joe Hilton, James Hilton, and Hazel Butler.

Joyce is survived by her children, Steven Johnson and Sheila Casteel; grandchildren, Miranda Overby (Randy), Randy Lane (Amy Lane), Stephanie Altman (Jessee), and Carla Casteel; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Hilton (Billie Faye) and Rod Hilton (Carla); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
