Karena Ann Prater

Karena Ann Prater, age 79, of Boone’s Creek, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 with her son by her side. Born in Johnson City, Tennessee on September 16, 1946 to Woodrow and Margaret Gilley, Karena lived most of her life in the Gray, Tennessee area. She was a retired nurse.

Karena was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow W. and Margaret Murray Gilley; grandson, Dillion Prater; and her sister, Lana Martin.

She is survived by her son, Dickie Lee Prater (Nancy); and grandchildren, Amber, Casey and Candice.

The family will receive friends from 12pm – 2pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Blountville. A funeral service will take place at 2pm. Burial will follow the service.
