Laura Caroline Brown

Laura Caroline Brown, 51, Kingsport, TN, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport.

A graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and a National Merit Scholarship Winner, she attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. Laura graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Computer Science. During her career, Laura was an employee of AFG, TRW, and Eastman Chemical Company. She loved softball, cooking, water skiing, snow skiing, and volleyball.

She was a dog enthusiast, especially Corgi and German Shepherd breeds.

Her father, Donald Eugene Brown preceded her in death in 2009.

Surviving are her mother, Joyce M. Brown, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Robert A. Brown and Richard E. Brown and wife Meredith; nieces, Valerie and Julia Brown, all of Kingsport, TN; aunt, Linda Liddicoatt, Chesterfield, MI; and uncle, Sam McCarty, Columbia, SC.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.
