Beloved husband, dad and grandpa
Lawrence Alan Larkey, 71, of Orlando, formerly of Kingsport passed away peacefully, on Sunday, February 24, 2019, surrounded by his family following a brief unexpected illness. Born in Kingsport, TN on July 30, 1947, the son of the late Lawrence E. and Dana Larkey. He graduated from Dobyns- Bennett High School in 1965 and attended ETSU. He married Linda Greer on May 25, 1969. Lawrence was a Veteran of the US Navy and retired from Walgreens in 2013 following 25 years of service. Lawrence was a member of Mensa. Linda and Lawrence moved to Orlando FL in 1984. Lawrence will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, and friend who loved to read and being a grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved pets.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Larkey; 2 daughters, Lynn Larkey of Birmingham, AL, and Leah Larkey Nuzzi and husband, Benjamin of Virginia; son, Landon Larkey and wife, Paula of Winter Springs, FL; and 5 grandchildren, Victoria, Nathaniel and Samuel Nuzzi, and Lena and Logan Larkey.
Burial will follow committal services at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Those attending committal services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 pm on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, petallianceorlando.org.
