Leroy Burrell, 84, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he lived most of his life in Kingsport and served in the Tennessee State Guard during World War II. Mr. Burrell retired from J. P. Stevens Company after 39 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to all.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Dollie P. Fugate Burrell; his parents, Brighty and Ralph Burrell, Sr.; and his sister, Nellie Noel.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Clarence Marshall, Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Evelyn Burrell, Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tammie Burrell, Kingsport; six grandchildren, Lisa Clark, James Burrell, Jeffrey Marshall, Chad Marshall, Justin Marshall, Thomas Luster; six great-grandchildren, Landon Burrell, Lindsey Burrell, Hailee Clark, Hannah Clark, Braden Marshall, Brylee Marshall; one brother, Ralph L. Burrell, Jr. and wife, Mildred, Blountville; one sister, Billie Dillow and husband, Kenneth, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Beth Ritter.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church and other times at the home of a son, Jerry Burrell, 1316 Dunlap Road, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Maurice Quillen and Dr. Frank Crawford officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be James Burrell, Jeffrey Marshall, Chad Marshall, Justin Marshall, Ronnie Franklin, and Landon Burrell.
