Lois Roba Kennedy, 76, joined her husband Bob in God's hand on Saturday, September 27, 2014 after an extended illness. She was born and raised in Hawkins County and went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Counseling at ETSU. Then while raising her family, she worked first as a Special Education Teacher at Church Hill Elementary School and then as a Guidance Counselor at Volunteer High School. Throughout her career, she touched the lives and hearts of hundreds of children she came to know and love.
Her faith in Christ was the most important part of her life and she was an active member of the Boones Creek United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Kennedy; sister Helyn Collins Tosh and parents Arthur and Inez Collins.
She leaves behind a son Mike Roba; daughter Andra Roba Savage and husband, Steve; two nieces Tondria Hunley and Pamela Miller; "grandsons" Briar Hunley and Mark Savage; grandnephew Chris Mullins and children Levi and Jordan; grandniece Heather Mullins Whigham and daughter Sailor.
She will missed most by those who knew her for her love of life and the care and concern she showed for those around her. Those who knew her best, however, you will recall how much she enjoyed dancing with her husband Bob surrounded by their many friends. Listen carefully and you just might be able to hear Bob humming "Can I have this dance for the rest of my life?" as they guide themselves through the Heavens.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Services will begin at 7 pm with Pastor Ken Lytton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 pm at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
