Lorene Carter

Ethel Lorene Carter, of Kingsport, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Born in the Smith Creek Community of Kentucky, she has lived in this area most of her life. Lorene was an active member of Carter’s Valley Ruritan and attended Freedom Baptist Church.  

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Howard and Clyde Irene Stanley; husband of 61 years, Ray Carter; daughter, Sheree Ray Huff; and brother, Charles Harold Stanley. 

She is survived by her granddaughter, Christie Huff; sister, Darlene Qualls and husband Frank; and brother, Earl Stanley and wife Sue; son-in-law, Charles Huff; sister-in-law, Enga Stanley; and several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff, especially Alexis, on D5 in ICU at Holston Valley Medical Center. 

A committal service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Pastor Larry Stallard officiating.
