Loretta "Rett" Trent

Loretta “Rett” Trent, 83, of Long Island – Kingsport, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was born and raised in the Long Island area in Kingsport. She attended Sullivan West High School. Loretta worked for a few different companies but ultimately retired from the Meade. She was an amazing mother and loved everyone. Loretta had three of her own children but raised many more than her own. She loved everyone, but above all, she loved the Lord. Loretta enjoyed travel, and specifically going to the beach. She was a born-again Christian who served the Lord faithfully at Bays Mountain Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Nola Murray; sisters, Faye Nelson (Johnny), Phyllis Nancy Bowman (Don), Norma Ruth Baines (M. H.); grandson, Zackary Daugherty; and son-in-law, Michael Bloomer.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Trent; children, Teresa Bloomer (Michael) of Fall Branch, Tim Riner (Melinda) of Kingsport, Tammy Daugherty (Sid) of Sullivan Gardens; step-children, Chad Trent (Sherry), Sara Whitley (Eddie); grandchildren, Amber Bloomer, Olivia Bloomer, Elijah Riner, Heath Whitley, Grant Whitley, Olivia Trent, Cooper Frost, Rosalyn Frost, Zackary Daugherty (Kendra); great grandsons, Jacob King, Fox Daugherty; brother, Johnny Murray (Kathy); and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 11:00am – 1:30pm at Bays Mountain Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30pm with Tim Nelson officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jacob King, Chad Trent, Carter Manis, Sid Daugherty, John Murray and Johnny Murray. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Alvis.
