Margaret Helen Garland Keith
Margaret G. Keith, 93, Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Margaret was born in Kingsport on February 18, 1932, to Clifford James and Nellie Kate Ford Garland; she was the oldest of five siblings. She was a graduate of Holston High School, Class of 1950. During her senior year in high school, Margaret met Kenneth D. Keith. They were married after she graduated and he completed college. She was a homemaker for several years until starting part-time with Appalachian Flying Service. Later, she became a full time employee rising to the position of vice-president.
Margaret was an avid reader and learner. After two of her kids were in college, she began taking evening classes at what is now Northeast State. Eventually, she transferred to ETSU and earned her B.S. in accounting. Many of the family including her grandchildren were present to watch her walk for her degree. She drove to Atlanta alone for several weeks to prepare and sit for her C.P.A .certification.
Margaret was a dedicated member of the Wheeler United Methodist Church, a member of Susannah Wesley Circle, and long-time member of Eastern Star. She taught Sunday school, participated in and contributed to whatever event was happening, and was always going out of her way to make others feel comfortable, provide meals, or encouraging greetings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings JoAnn Parker and James Lewis Garland.
Those left to cherish her memory include sisters, Wanda Faye Pierson and Jane Jones; children Karen France (Craig), Kenneth D. Keith Jr. (Jamie) and Kevin Dean Keith; grandchildren, Jacob France, Jacqueline Porter, Kelsey Keith, Jonathan Keith, Zachary Keith and Katie Keith; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
