Margie Irene Derting Ketron 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday March 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family.
Born in the Hiltons community on Nov 27, 1939, she was of the Baptist faith and accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age. She was a member of Hilton’s Free Will Baptist for many years where she taught Sunday School. Margie later attended Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church and in the last few years, Sunnyside Baptist Church. She also sang with the Hilton’s Trio. Margie retired from Sullivan County Schools in the cafeteria after many years of service. She never met a stranger and loved to travel with her husband Jack, having visited all 50 states and 16 countries. Margie loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest "FM" and Kate Derting; sister, Jeanette Snapp; and brother, William Derting.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 69 years, Jack Ketron; daughters, Lisa Hensley and husband Richie and Regina Stacy and husband Randall; sons, Jerry Ketron and wife Teresa, Benny Ketron and wife Robin; grandchildren, Carrie Ketron, Lauren Sutherland, Gunnar Sutherland, Kylie Harmon and husband Levi, Kaitlyn Hammer and husband Josh, Beth Stacy, Olivia Stacy, and Justin Stacy and wife Vicki; great- grandchildren, Jace and Maddox Hammer, Beckham Judd, Reid Stacy, Aspyn Herron, and Waylon Harkleroad.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Blountville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bill Sims officiating.
Burial will follow at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jerry and Benny Ketron, Jace and Maddox Hammer, Randall Stacy, and Richie Hensley.
Honorary Pallbearers are Tim Vaughn, Wade and Joe Ketron and Roger and David Snapp.
