Marie Sorah Byington

Marie Sorah Byington, 100, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at NHC Kingsport. Born in Wise, VA, she had lived in the Kingsport area since 1944. Marie was employed with Eastman for 41 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Liberty Chapter #198, Order of the Eastern Star. Marie had served as a volunteer for Holston Valley Medical Center since 1986. She attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Byington, in 2002; nieces, Helen Mullins, Edith Boles and Carroll Prater.

Survivors include her niece, Karla Sorah Nagy and several great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Brighter Days and NHC of Kingsport, along with caregivers, Carolyn Gilliam and Skye Twitty.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Pastor Paul Warrick officiating.
