March 27, 1973 – April 5, 2026
Melissa Brown, a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2026, after a long battle with medical complications.
Melissa was the devoted wife of 29 years to Rob Brown and a proud, loving mother to Anastasia, Jason, Isabella, and Ellianna Brown. Mom and Grammy to Oso, Zuko, Tyrion, and Leo. She is also survived by her parents, Wayne and Vicky Ramsey; her father-in-law, Jimmy Brown; and many loving aunts, uncles, and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
Melissa lived a life marked by compassion and selflessness. She was a woman who ran herself ragged caring for others, always putting the needs of those around her before her own. She never turned a blind eye to someone or something in need, especially animals. Her love for animals was unmatched; she at one time had 40 hermit crabs, 8 guinea pigs, 5 dogs and many cats over the years. She had a tender heart that could be moved to tears, even stopping on the side of the road to say a prayer for a turtle.
Melissa was also a gifted artist who shared her creativity and love for arts and crafts with her children, leaving behind not only memories but a lasting legacy of creativity.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, 117 E. Charlemont Avenue, Kingsport, Tennessee. Pastor Mattie Montgomery best known by Melissa as “Preacher Mattie” will be speaking.
