Melony Whitt Haun

Melony Whitt Haun, 64, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home after her second battle with cancer.

Melony was exceptionally creative and artistic, and that showed in many areas of her life —from her clothing or accessories to the unique spaces she created in her homes. She had a special talent for taking old, forgotten pieces and breathing new life into them. Melony was also a lifelong animal lover, always drawn to animals in need. Every pet she had either found its way to her or was lovingly taken in by her.

She enjoyed motorcycles and sports cars, and one of her favorite memories in recent years was riding her Harley-Davidson with her husband, Mike. Melony also loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations included Key West, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Any day she could spend with her feet in the surf and her face in a book was a good day.

Melony had a successful career with Morrison Healthcare, which afforded her many opportunities to travel and ultimately led her to Kingsport. Though she lived in many different places throughout her life, Northeast Tennessee became home to her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Haun; her father, Jerry Whitt; and her daughter, Mandie Haun.

Melony is survived by her mother, Susie Whitt; her sister, Holli Alexander (Doug); her son, Dustin Haun (Kricket); and her daughter, Hailey Haun. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Skylar, Keelan, Kylie, Maurannah, Silas, and Lavender, as well as many dearly loved extended family members and lifelong friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hannah, Shamrock, and Emma with Ballad Health Hospice for their compassionate care of Melony through the end of her life.

A celebration of Melony’s life will be held at a future time
