Mildred "Sue" King

Mildred “Sue” King, 90, of Gray, TN, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her residence with family by her side. She was born and spent her early years in Dungannon, VA, but later moved to Gray where she lived all her adult life. She helped her husband work on their family farm and enjoyed her work as a loving and compassionate caregiver for many years.  She was an avid shopper and loved finding a bargain.   She was a member and faithful attendee of Beulah Baptist Church.   

Sue was preceded in death by her father, Roy Shepherd; mother, Enola and step-father, Harry Nave; husband Ted King; brothers, Clifford Shepherd, Jerry Allen Nave and wife, Diane; sister, Margaret Singleton and husband Dewey; daughter-in-law, Tippie King and son-in-law, Jamie Lowe.

Survivors include her daughters, Jane Trent (Roy) and Sharon Franklin (James); sons, Ray King of the home and Dennis King (Shari); grandchildren, Kevin Lowe and Heather Lowe; great-grandchildren, Dillen and Lexie McAmis and Gibson Wagner; sisters, Edith Hull and Linda Jones; brother, Bobby Shepherd and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2630 Hwy. 75, Blountville, TN.  The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Brother Al South and Pastor John David Shanks officiating.  A graveside service will follow in the Garden of Devotion. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
