Nita Cox Jessee

Nita Cox Jessee, 90, of Johnson City, died Monday, October 31, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Coeburn, VA, she had resided in Bucyrus, Ohio and Marengo, Ohio before moving back to Southwest Virginia. She had worked as a nurse for over 30 years. Nita was a devout Christian and she enjoyed cooking, baking, and making flower arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Oscar Lee Cox of 66 years and Cecil Jessee.

Nita is survived by three daughters, Olivia Stelley of Johnson City, Melissa Williams of Mt. Carmel, and Shirley Lee Hundley and husband Richard Andrew Hundley, Sr. of Church Hill; son, Oscar Lee J.B. Cox of Yuma, AZ; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Kennedy of Florida and Donald Kennedy of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Fincastle Methodist Church Cemetery in Fincastle, VA. Pallbearers will be family members.
