Palmer G. ?P.G.? Jones, 79, of the Harmony Community, Jonesborough, passed away Friday morning, April 27, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Kingsport, he was the son of the late Palmer and Martha Church Jones. He had resided in the Harmony Community for over 40 years. P. G. was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a member of the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. He retired from Slip-Not Belting after 38 years of service.

His wife of almost 58 years, Nina Carberry Jones, preceded him in death July 10, 2006.

In addition to his parents and wife, P. G. was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Fulkerson and brother, Denzil Jones.

He will be greatly missed by his family. Survivors are his daughter, Donna Ferguson and husband Eddie, Fall Branch; son, Danny Jones and wife Katie, Jonesborough; grandchildren, Becki Feathers and husband John, Piney Flats, Scotty Ferguson and wife Amy, Fall Branch, Jennifer Barney and husband Benji, Onalaska, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Kade, Eli, and Isabella Ferguson; Bennett and Delana Barney; and Alyssa Feathers; brothers, Bill Jones and wife Liz, Mike Jones and wife Scarlett, all of Kingsport; sisters, Geneva Cox, Freda Barnes and husband Bill, Glenda Summey and husband Paul, Sharon Long, all of Kingsport, Retha Pugh and husband Jim of Jonesborough; brother-in-law, J. D. Carberry of Duffield, VA; several nieces and nephews; and his special buddy, ?Rocky?.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Friends may also call at the home his daughter at 356 Tucker Hollow Road or the home of his son at 1047 Painter Road, Fall Branch.

Services will follow at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Westley A. Duncan and Rev. Mark Bolden officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Harold Morelock officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tim Jones, Fred Jones, Ted Ford, Scotty Ferguson, John Feathers, and Sam Haren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Ford, Pete Ford, Larry Richmond, Joncie Curry, and Billy J. Cox.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wellmont Hospice Program, P. O. Box 238, Kingsport, TN 37662.
