Patricia Ann Carrier (née Cook) was born in Oneida, Kentucky, on August 17, 1944, and passed away on the night of March 29, 2026, at her home in Kingsport, Tennessee.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, James Daniel Carrier; her sons, Michael K. Carrier and Christopher Daniel Carrier and Michael’s wife Marcy Carrier; her grandchildren, William N. Carrier, Laura Elizabeth Carrier, and Joseph Daniel Carrier, and William’s wife Julie Lane Carrier and Joseph’s fiancée Mia Waugh; her great grandchildren, Christopher Solomon Carrier and James Levi Carrier; her siblings, William E. Cook, Robert L. Cook, Barbara (Cook) Books, and Gerald L. Cook, and Barbara’s husband Terrence E. Books; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She attended the University of Cincinnati and was a substitute teacher in Ohio in the 70s and 80s, then relocated repeatedly to enable her husband Dan to take on engineering projects in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, and Turkey, culminating in his work as engineering project manager on the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina. They enjoyed travel, visiting twenty-four foreign countries over the years. Each place they lived, she made a home for them and found a church home.
They retired to Kingsport in 2007. During her time of physical decline, Dan cared for her at home with unfailing devotion. On the morning before she went home to the Lord, she saw many of her family, including all her siblings. The family would also like to thank Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice for their compassionate support.
A graveside service and interment will be held at noon on April 11, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, 2630 Tennessee Route 75, Blountville; followed by visitation with the family at 1 p.m. in the atrium at First Baptist Church, Kingsport, and a service in the sanctuary at 2:30. The 2:30 service will be streamed at the “Watch Live” tab on www.fbckpt.org.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Medical Clinic of Kingsport, 441 Clay Street, providenceclinic.org.
