Paul Eugene Smith, 89, of Kingsport, was reunited with his sweetheart of 60 years, Dorothy (Dot) Hilton Smith on Friday, January 2, 2026. A member of Victory Baptist Church and a proud U.S. Marine veteran, Paul was a gifted craftsman. He found great joy in woodworking and took immense pride in restoring his antique Ford Model A.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents, Rev. Leland and Carrie Smith; and sister, Emma Rector.

Paul is survived by sons, Jerry Smith (Diane) and Jeff Smith; granddaughters, Heather Crowe (Silas) and Destiny Cookenour (Cody); great-grandchildren, Tierstyn, Taelyn, Jensen, and Owen; and brothers, Harold, Kyle, and Larry Smith.

The family would like to thank Greystone Healthcare and Suncrest Hospice for the care and kindness they provided.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Hilton and Rev. Larry Morelock officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors by American Legion Posts #3/265.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
