Peggy Ann Chase Cox, 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. She was born in Kingsport and lived in the Eastern Star Community most of her life. She was an active member of Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church where she played the piano until her health prevented her. Peggy was an accountant for the Appalachian Fair for 30+ years and enjoyed reading and collecting pie birds. A loving and devoted wife and mother, she was a joy and blessing to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlie and Helen Athalee Chase.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, C. Wade Cox; daughter, Sonja Crowe; son, Miles Cox and wife, Tammy; grandson, Gunnar Crowe and wife, Josie; and a host of friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 pm on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Bro. George Winegar, Kevin Rose and David Grubb officiating. Special singing will be by Junior Grills and Judy Carroll. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
Pallbearers will be Miles Cox, Gunnar Crowe, Steven Carroll, Eddie Barry, Gantry Ferguson, Brandel Rose and Brandon Hite. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Chase, Johnny Arnott and Roger Verran.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Eastern Star Cemetery Fund, c/o Betty Hale, 2020 Fordtown Rd., Jonesborough, TN 37659.
