Ralph "Buddy" Wingett

9/2/1939 to 4/23/2023

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, their light remains.”

Ralph Roger Wingett was born September 2, 1939, in Marion, OH.  He retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years of service.  His love for God and family was his primary purpose in life. He spent 23 years serving as his mother’s primary care giver.  His unmeasured level of patience and giving heart made him perfect for the job.

Music was also important to him as he loved to sing.  He was an active member in several church choirs and served as an usher.  Singing with his father was one of his greatest joys.  Ralph had a passion for sports. He was a loyal fan for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns.  He was an active bowler for much of his life.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Ralph and Hazel Fern Wingett; parents: George and Marguerite Wingett, brother and sister-in-law: Jerry and Nancy Wingett; brother-in-law: Dr. Ralph F. Morton; nieces: Melissa Morton Foshee, Jennifer Wingett Miller, and Jill Wingett.

He is survived by his sister Linda Wingett Morton; nephews: Tom and Nathan Morton and Jeff Wingett; niece, Sara Morton Dickey and many great nieces and nephews.

Ralph never met a stranger, so his list of friends is endless.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN where he was a member of the New Fidelis Sunday School class.  Dr. Randy Frye will be officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Gilead, Ohio.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wexford House for their care of Ralph.
