Rev. Luther Guy

Rev. Luther Guy, 75 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Kingsport, TN on October 31, 1938, a son of the late Leonard and Lula Guy, he had resided in this area his entire life. He was a retired Apostolic Minister, having performed many revivals, radio ministries and evangelistic work. Luther will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lula Guy; four siblings, Faye, Margaret, Linda and Lester; and granddaughter, Stacey Churchwell.

Rev. Guy is survived by his wife of 55 years, JoAnn Guy of the home; five daughters, Cathy Adams and husband, John, Shelia Welch, Robin Farrow and husband, Walt, Cindy Hall and husband, Michael, and Pam Woodruff and husband, Daryl; four sons, James Guy, Randall Guy and wife, MaryAnn, Terry Guy and wife, Tina, and Stephen Guy and wife, Amy; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Guy and wife, Lois; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and doctors at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Bishop Hagan Webb and Pastor Thomas R. Benton officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be John Adams, Stephen Guy, Adan Guy, Sean Penley and Terry Guy. Walter Farrow will be the honorary pallbearer.
