Rita Louise Thompson

Rita Louise Thompson, 90, went to be with Jesus on May 3, 2025. Born in Carter County, TN, she was the daughter of Horace and Jane McNeill Harrison and had lived in this area all her life. Rita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, George “Ed” Thompson; 6 sisters; 3 brothers; daughter, Sandra Jean Thompson and step-daughter, Gwendolyn Thompson.

She is survived by her children: Scott Thompson and wife, Teresa, Lisa Gauntt and husband Steve, Richard Thompson and wife, Nancy and Tony Thompson and wife Rebecca; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry Harrison and wife Janice and Darrel Harrison and wife, Ada; special brother-in-law, Cecil Carter; special sister-in-law, Helen Skelton; and, several nieces and nephews.

A family committal service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, 2630 Highway 75, Blountville, TN. All are invited to attend.
