Robert Eugene Baker

Robert Eugene Baker, 79, of Blountville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Robert was born on November 13, 1947, in Gastonia, North Carolina, to the late Earful and Susie Baker. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in Korea. Robert spent more than 30 years working as a truck driver for Food City.

Robert will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and the laughter he brought to those around him. He was a fair man who treated everyone he met with kindness and respect. Above all else, Robert loved his family more than anything, and the time he shared with them meant the world to him.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Earlene Baker; sons, Joe Inscoe, William Inscoe, Jeff Inscoe, and Guita Inscoe; grandsons, Joey Inscoe and Aaron McCloud; and granddaughter, Destiny Baker.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Ruth Baker; sons, Michael Baker (Michelle) and Shane Baker (Jennifer); daughters, Angie Davis (Rickey), Sandra Bright (Raymond), Amy McCloud (Danny), Stacy Burns (Ed), and Sarah “Beck” Mitchell (Jake); special granddaughter, Kaelyn “KaeKae”; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Raby, Judy Chandler (David), Phyllis Wilson, Jackie Skidmore, and Connie Bible (Jimmy); along with extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Bro. Amos Bright officiating.
