Robert Dale Matthews

Robert Dale Matthews, born on August 16, 1953 in Port Clinton, OH, went to his Heavenly Father on June 3,2025, at his home in Rockford, IL. Dale, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His favorite pastimes included listening to Cher, Glen Campbell and collecting Batman memorabilia. He often sang at county fairs and nursing homes with the Milestone Singers. Dale participated in Special Olympics competitions earning several medals through the years. He was employed by Milestone Industries for 32 years and took great pride in his work.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ann Morelock and Fred Matthews, his sister Carolyn Bernhardy, and his brothers Steve and Darryl Morelock.

He is survived by William Bernhardy, his special angel, his sister Diane Slemp, his brother Gilbert Morelock and wife, Sherry, and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Steve Alley will officiate a graveside service at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church in the Beech Creek community on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
