Robert "Bob" Stapleton, Sr., of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Bristol Hospice House. Bob was formerly employed at Discount Appliances, Kingsport. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Stapleton; a daughter, April Stapleton; his father, William "Bill" Stapleton; and a brother, Jimmy Stapleton.
He is survived by his fiancée and caregiver, Brenda Quillen; two daughters, Karen Sexton
and Harlee Stapleton Brown and husband, Josh, all of Kingsport; three sons, Robert "Bobby" Stapleton, Jr., and wife Nickie, Church Hill, William "Danny" Stapleton, Kingsport, and Hunter Stapleton, also of Kingsport; ten grandchildren; his mother, Rusha Stapleton Tomlinson, Kingsport; five sisters, Jean Bright and husband, Jerry, Clarice Brummette and husband, Dale, Myrtle Starnes, Ollie Miller and husband, Ron, all of Kingsport, and Ruth Baker and husband, Bobby, of Blountville; four brothers, Bud Stapleton and wife, Rita, Jefferson City, TN, Darrell Stapleton and wife, Wanda, White Pine, TN, John Stapleton and wife, Darlene, also of White Pine, Glen Stapleton, of the home; several nieces and nephews; special family member, Shannon Osborne, Kingsport; and special friends, Keith Slider and David Derrick, both of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, or anytime at the home of his mother at 1701 Fairview Avenue, Kingsport, 1208 Riverside Avenue, Kingsport, or at the home of his daughter, Karen, 1000 Stonegate Road, Apt. D-6, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 8:00, with Rev. David Stapleton officiating.
