Ruby King, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on October 28th, 2025 at her home following a brief illness.
Born in Blountville to the late Henry and Stella Watkins, she lived in Kingsport after marrying her husband, Truett. She and Truett met upon introduction from a friend. From there, they dated for two years and began their married life together, later having three daughters. He passed at an early age and she lovingly raised them on her own. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for many years and was an active member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.
She was saved at an early age and lived a life of faith in the Lord. She loved her family as was evident in all she did.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and her son in law.
Her memory will be cherished by her three daughters Susan King Thompson, Joy Ellen King and Mary Jane King Parvin; four grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Thompson, Benjamin and Matthew Parvin; one nephew, Ronnie Holt and three nieces, Sandy Watkins, Angie Vandeventer and Kristie Vanover.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am Saturday November 1st, 2025 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Blountville. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Sam Stroud officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
Pallbearers will be the men of Carpenter’s Hand from Colonial Heights Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, it would please the family that donations be made to The Carpenter’s Hand Ministry from Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Mrs. Ruby’s honor.
