Sarah Ellen Scott

Sarah Ellen Scott, 83, of Gray, TN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, with such grace, late Sunday morning, with her family surrounding her. Sarah was born in Kingsport and was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, class of 1961. She was a member of Gray United Methodist Church. Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lena Boyer.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Mitchell W. Scott; children, Maryly Ellen Scott-Sprinkle (Hoyt), Ginny Lea Bailey (Tim), Will Scott (Sara); grandchildren, Amber Nicole MacDonald, Jacob Ryan Hayes; great-grandchildren, twins, Mary Jane and Sarah Grace MacDonald, Lottie May Paul; sister, Sandra Rutter; brother, Larry Boyer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Aaron Atchley officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
