Shawne Marie Hickman

Shawne Marie Hickman, 62, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family at her side on June 13, 2025. She courageously fought a hard 3-year battle with cancer, but she is now at peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Shawne was born in Ilion, NY on September 13, 1962 to Faye and the late Charles Thomas. She moved to East TN as a child, due to her father’s job relocation, and later graduated from Sullivan Central High School in 1980. She married Brad Hickman on April 14, 1994 in Las Vegas. After a 15-year period in Versailles, KY, she moved back to Colonial Heights. The majority of her employment was spent in the printing industry as a buyer and cost estimator.

Shawne loved her family dearly and was the most loving and generous wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend and Mimi to Taron. She had a passion for the beach, and gourmet food. Shawne was skilled at painting, crafts and basket weaving; making 100’s of baskets in her lifetime and was the best baseball, basketball and football mom Thomas could ever ask for.

Shawne is survived by her husband, Brad Hickman; son, Thomas Hickman (significant other, Taylor Anderson); and beloved grandson, Taron Hickman; sisters, Denise Burdick (husband, Rick), Leigh Anne Crouch (husband, Nathan); brother, Matt Thomas (wife, Linda); brother-in-law, Chris Hickman (wife, Diane); sister-in-law, Kathy Solt; nephews, Brandon Hickman, Dustin Hickman, Nick Solt (wife, Jacquie), Aaron Thomas, Luke Burdick, Brian Thomas (wife, Ashley); nieces, Casey Bedford (husband, Jordan), Nikki Stevens (husband, Louie), Beth Sennet, Sammie Hamilton (husband, Mike), Emily Burdick; many great nieces and nephews who she adored; her dearest friend, Sylvia Ratcliff of Versailles, KY, Kat and Reggie Lett and Toni Thomas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the loving and compassionate care provided by her nurses, Kelly and Melissa of Smokey Mountain Hospice. They are truly angels here on earth and provided not only excellent care but became part of her family.

In lieu of flowers or meals, the family requests that any donations be made to Smokey Mountain Hospice, 106 Ferrell Ave., #1, Kingsport, TN 37663.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
