Thelma Kern Evans

Thelma Kern Evans, born March 18, 1932, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Thelma was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. She graduated from Sullivan High School in 1950 and retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1994. After retiring, she spent 10 years doing volunteer work at the church library, meals on wheels, and Shepherd Center. She loved to travel, ballroom dancing and playing bridge.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Virginia Kern; husband, Don Evans; daughter, Teresa Aesque; and brothers, Glen and Gary Kern.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Patton (Kenny); son-in-law, Paul Aesque; granddaughters, Nikki Pasch (James), Emily Ball (Ben) all of Kingsport, Jennifer Trammell (Justin) of Knoxville; grandson, Brandon Aesque of Kingsport; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Will Shewey officiating followed by a memorial gathering drop in anytime between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Fusion at Ridgefields, 2320 Pendragon Road.

The Evans family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to “Preston Place.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street UMC – Furniture Ministry.
