Thomas Ray Edens

Thomas Ray Edens, 91, died Monday morning at Preston Place in Kingsport, Tennessee. A son of the late Samuel Harrison Edens and Annie Maude Sims Edens. Thomas was born and raised in Elizabethton, TN. Mr. Edens retired from a career in the US Navy in 1977 after serving the Pacific during WWII and during the Vietnam War. He and his wife, Hazel, had resided in Greenville, NC prior to his 2017 move to Kingsport.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Hazel Williams Edens; 4 brothers, Donald, Ralph, Jack and Harold; and 2 sisters, Anne and Hazel.

Thomas is survived by 3 sisters, Wilma Montgomery of Phoenix, Arizona, Jean White of Johnson City and Nancy Alsup of Elizabethton; son, Thomas Ray Burleson and wife, Nancy of Kingsport; 2 grandsons, John and Jimmy of Kingsport; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

A military graveside service will be held on Saturday at 1:00pm at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC.
