Thomas Tatchi

Thomas Tatchi, 50, of Kingsport, died Friday, January 19, 2007 at Greystone Health Care.

Born in D. R. Congo, Central Africa, he had resided in Kingsport since 1994 and received his U. S. Citizenship in 2000. Thomas was very interested in preserving the environment. He volunteered his time to bring African Culture Awareness to the community.

Thomas was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Feza Tatchi; and two brothers, Henri and Asani Tatchi.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Tatchi of the home; three daughters, Marthe Byamungu Tatchi of Kingsport, Dallyda Feza Kiza Tatchi and Sarah Nafasa Tatchi, both of Berea, KY; three sons, Amin Kasanga Tatchi; Thomas Junior Tatchi, and Albert Sibula Tatchi, all of the home; one sister, Arija Byamungu Tatchi of Congo, Central Africa; and one brother, Amisi Kimbwaka Tatchi of Congo, Central Africa.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church and immediately following the service.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle and Rev. L. Craig Foster officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 12 noon to go in procession.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
