Tommy Reese Stapleton

Tommy Reese Stapleton, age 58, of Kingsport, Tennessee passed away on August 22, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1967 to the late Jim Stapleton and Amanda Voirol.

Tommy was known for his sense of humor, fighting spirit, and love for his family. He had strong faith despite many health issues. Tommy attended Celebration Church.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 38 years, Ruth Stapleton; two daughters, Ashley Stapleton-Shell (Cody) and Kelly Long (Dustin); grandson, Hayden Long; two extended daughters, Alicia Davis and Ashley Marshall (Tim); two extended granddaughters, Olivia and Ellie Marshall; sister, Kyla Miller (Jim); mother-in-law, Carolyn Henry; two sisters-in-law, Betty Dove (Bryce) and Alice Crawford; brother-in-law, Gary Henry Jr (Melanie); nieces, Samantha East (Dustin), Abby Henry, Kaitlyn Miller, and Lindsay Miller; nephews Aaron Crawford and Austin Henry (Ashlyn); and his best friend since middle school, Mark Forbes.

It was Tommy’s wish to be cremated.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 30 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Celebration Church Apex.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
