Travis Mark "Huggy Bear" Lane

Travis Mark “Huggy Bear” Lane, age 51 of Jonesborough, TN, being of Christian faith was called home unexpectedly on April 7, 2024. Travis grew up in Duffield, VA. He graduated from Rye Cove High School in 1990 where he played football and later coached. His love of people and sports lead him to coach several community youth teams. Travis was employed at Eastman Chemical for 22 years in Heavy Duty Trucking, always saying “he had the best job in the plant”.

Travis never met a stranger or turned down a request for help from a friend. His loving nature proudly earned him the nickname “Huggy Bear.”  He was an avid Vikings fan, hunter, fisherman and always up for an outdoor adventure. If you were fortunate enough to know him, you loved him.

Left to cherish Travis’s memory are his wife, Larren Lane and son, Cayden Spurgeon of the home; children, Sarah Sloan (Zack), Kayla Warren (Jeramy) and Tyler Gibson (Caitlin); grandchildren, Cora Sloan, Payton, Karsyn and Emeri Warren; parents, L.C. and Joyce Lane; papaw, Guy Tipton of Duffield, VA; and several extended family members, friends and his entire Eastman family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Reed and Associate Pastor Terry Adcock officiating.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.

Pallbearers are Cayden Spurgeon, Tyler Gibson, Jason Tipton, Jon Hammonds, Jason Silvers, Kory Wiesner, Michael McPherson, Justin Pilkenton and Matt Cox.
