Troy "Ed" Crowder

Troy “Ed” Crowder, age 93, of Kingsport, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 21, 2026 surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Dante, Virginia on August 19, 1933. He worked for Penn Dixie for 31 years, before retiring from TRW after 13 years. He attended Pleasant View Baptist Church. Ed’s greatest joys in life were the Lord and his family.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Hazel and Oscar Jessee; and one brother.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherry Crowder; sons, Richie and Charles Crowder (Michelle); grandsons, Weston Crowder (Taylor), Trenton Crowder and Mason Jackson (Hope); granddaughter, Mattie Crowder; great-grandchildren, Naveali and Lennox Crowder and Myles and Magnolia Jackson; sisters, Iris Deskins and Annette Crowder; sisters-in-law, Rosa and Kathy Light; several nieces and nephews; step-father-in-law, Jimmy Phillips; special friends, James and Wanda Saylers, Paul and Debbie Gilliam, Ralph Hess, Tommy Douglas, and Dana Light Jr.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Nerissa Licup, Amedisys, and Julie Adkins for the wonderful care given to Troy.

The family will receive friends from 11am – 1pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor Kevin Rose officiating. Graveside services will take place following the service at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
