Virgil J. Lawson

Virgil J. Lawson, 73 of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Wexford House. Born in Scott County, Virginia on March 10, 1952, a son of the late Charles L. and Ruby Lawson, he had resided in the Lovelace Community all his life. He was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship of Fall Branch where he was known as the Candy Man. He married Darlene Sampson on October 6, 2010 in Jonesborough. Virgil retired as a driver with Appalachian Charter.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Davis and Deborah Monette; and two brothers, Don Lawson and Larry Lawson.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 15 years, Darlene Lawson; siblings, Nella and Les Phillips, Clyde and April Lawson and Sandy Owens; special nephew, Daniel Lawson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Preacher Roy Jenkins and Pastor Harold Morelock officiating. Burial will follow the service at First Baptist Church of Fall Branch Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
