Virginia Ruth Thompson

Ruth Thompson, 72, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, after an extended illness. Ruth was a social butterfly and loved to host company at her house. When she wasn’t tending to visitors or guest, she enjoyed relaxing on the porch and soaking in the sunshine. Above all else, she loved her family and watching as it grew. Ruth’s life may be lost, but her bright light will shine on through the ones who loved her.

Ruth is preceded in death by her first husband, John Thompson; daughters, Donna Weaver, Rhonda Ramey and Tina New.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Darlene Dykes and husband Michael, Diane Powers and husband Terry; son, Chad Thompson; grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Austin, Shawn, Stephanie, Christy, Keri, Jonathan, Stacie, Brandy, Tiffany, Brittany, and Kenny Jr.; several great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Hutchins; brothers, Donnie Hutchins, Joe Hutchins, and Wayne Hutchins; special sister-in-law, Peggy Hutchins; several nieces and nephews; and her second husband, Thomas Wayne Jones.

Funeral Service for Ruth will be held at 11am, Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Mt. Carmel FWB Church in the Beechcreek Community. Graveside service will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Dykes, Terry Powers, Danny Dykes, Austin Dykes, Daniel Dykes, Jonathan Thompson, Kermit Calhoun and Chad Amyx.
