Wanda Gay Greene

Wanda Gay Greene, 80, of Jonesborough, TN, member of Gregg’s Chapel, triumphantly entered into rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 10, 2025. She was a remarkable woman whose strength, warmth, and humor touched everyone who knew her. Born on November 1, 1945, in Grainger County, TN, she lived her life with a fire that could light up any room. Wanda faced every challenge with courage, met every person with kindness, and found laughter even in the hardest moments. Her love for her family knew no bounds. She gave freely, cared deeply, and was a fierce battle axe.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jim Greene; her parents, Clay and Hannah Short; and several brothers and sisters.

Wanda is survived by her four children, Jimmy (Karen) Greene, Anita (Gordon) Shell, Connie (Johnny) Browning, and Joey (Jenn) Greene; six grandchildren, Tonya (Steve) Brewster, Bradley Greene, Misty (Kenny) Chisholm, Heather Greene, Harley Mercadal, and Peyton Greene; eight great-grandchildren, Dayton and Paisley Payne, Pax and Case Brewster, Johnathan and Jace Chisholm, Rylee Julian, and Bentley Greene; and sister, Lillie Bell “Joy” Leonard.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Steve Brewster officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
