William I. “Bill” Grills, Jr., 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and had graduated from Lynn View High School. Bill attended East Tennessee State University and had retired from Eastman Chemical Company following 34 years of service as a control systems mechanic (electrician). He was a member of Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivor and Marie Grills; and sister, Iva Nell Grills.
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ramona Grills; daughters, Melissa Hill and husband, Dwayne, Myra Crawford and husband Jason, and Tina Hagie and husband Jim; sons, Dean Grills and wife Gina, Mark Rinehart and wife Georgia, and Dallas Rinehart and wife Holly; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Presley; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Larry Ball and Pastor Patrick Hines officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
