William "Bill" Waycaster

William “Bill” Waycaster, 87, of Kingsport, passed away early Friday morning, May 22, 2026. Bill was born in Bakersfield, NC and grew up in Marion, NC. He graduated from Berea College in Berea, KY and worked for more than 30 years for Crawford and Co. Insurance Adjusters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby Howell Waycaster and sister, Gail Long.

Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Benfield Waycaster; sons, William (Billy) Waycaster Jr. and Stephen H. Waycaster and special daughters-in-law, Kathy and Beth; grandchildren, Whitney Hyde, Jennifer Funk, Ashley Waycaster and Jackson Waycaster; and great-grandchildren, Katherine, Ben, Elizabeth, Anne, Emily and Logan.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at McDowell Memorial Park in Marion, NC.
