Emma Viola Rowland

Emma Viola Rowland, age 88 of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her residence following a period of declining health. Born in Sullivan County, TN on June 27, 1931, a daughter of the late Hiram and Addie Sumner Foulk, she had resided in this area her entire life.  She married Frank Rowland on July 14, 1951. She retired from Sullivan County Food Service Association in 1984 following 13 years of service. Viola will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend who loved word search puzzles, was an extremely good cook and an immaculate housekeeper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Issac Frank Rowland; 2 grandsons, Samuel Ethan and Charles Alan Cook; and several sisters and brothers.

Viola is survived by her children, Diane Cook of Kingsport, and Michael Rowland and wife, Terri of Kingsport; grandson, Nicholas Isaac Rowland and fiancée, Kindall Williams; sister, Bona Brooks and husband of Church Hill, TN; several nieces and nephews; and her special cat, Sweetie.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating.

Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 11:45 am on Friday.
