Iva Nell Chapman

Iva Nell Chapman, 74, my best friend, girlfriend and wife of 56 years, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at her home. She was born in Greene County, TN and resided in Kingsport since 1959. Iva Nell graduated from Baileyton High School and attended ETSU. She had worked in the finance department at Home Federal and later, First Tennessee Bank. She then went to work for Eleanor Eason Realty in 1983 and in 1989 was named Realtor of the Year. Iva Nell served as President of the Kingsport Board of Realtors and after Eleanor Eason Realty closed, she returned to First Tennessee Bank as a loan originator until retiring in 2000. She attended Homeland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Cornelia Compton.

Iva Nell is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Chapman; two sisters, Faye Head and husband, Glenn of Kingsport, and Diane Robinson and husband, Doyle of Kingsport; two special nieces, Kristy Overbey, and Tesla Robinson; and several other nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Words cannot express the kindness and friendship of Smokey Mountain Hospice as well as to all of Iva Nell's friends and family for your prayers, cards and phone calls during her battle with Alzheimers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Chaplain Mike Driver of Smokey Mountain Hospice officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Alfred Chapman, Paul Chapman, Dennie Chapman, David Chapman, Glenn Head, Doyle Robinson and Johnny Rowland.
