Marlene H. Dolen

Marlene H. Dolen, 80, Beech Creek Community, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2019.   She was born in Pulaski County, KY where she resided until she was 21 years of age.  Marlene then moved to Indianapolis where she lived for 25 years and was an employee of Western Electric for more than 19 years.  In 1985 she and her family returned to this area. Marlene was a member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rothel and Lottie Hawk; husband, Horace (Jim) Dolen, Jr.; infant sister, Evia; 4 brothers, Delma, Charles, Clinton and Carlos; and great-granddaughter, Harper Hampton.

Marlene is survived by 2 daughters, Tamara Dolen of Rogersville, TN, and Sonya Thomas and husband, Danny of Indianapolis. IN; 2 granddaughters, Jessica Hampton and Portia Nunley; 2 step-grandchildren, Donna and Danny; 2 great-grandchildren, Jenny Hampton-Mills and Riley Nunley; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Brian and Brianna; sister, Marie Farmer of Bargersville, IN; brother, Fales Hawk of Somerset, KY; and special nephew Jerry she thought of as a brother, several other nieces and nephews.

 The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 and from, 1-2:00 pm on Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday with Pastor Terry Roberts officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Dolen, Steven Davis, Cody Roberts, Andy Haney, Shawn Steel and Kyle Scott.  Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Ward and John Morelock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3711 Beech Creek Rd., Rogersville, TN 37857.
